Cannes Lumière Shorts Festival

Cannes Lumière Shorts Festival ( formerly, The Paris International Short Awards), now entering its fourth year, is dedicated to championing bold, innovative cinema that challenges conventions and pushes boundaries. We seek out films that offer fresh, subversive perspectives, providing a platform for emerging voices often overlooked by mainstream outlets.

Content Policy

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW?
1. The submitter must hold all legal rights for the submission.
2. All films must be submitted and submission fees paid. The Festival is not obligated to view late entries.
3. Films will be selected and entrants will be notified via email. All correspondence will be done by email; no information will be provided over the phone.
4. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide individualized feedback to filmmakers
5. Filmmakers must provide the festival with a clean, clear print for exhibition in one of our accepted formats, per category rules. Narrative and Documentary Features screen on DCP (strongly preferred) or Blu-ray. All films screening on DCP must have a Blu-ray back-up. We prefer all short films to be submitted in a high-quality digital format.
6. If a film received 50% or more of its funding from sources outside of the French, the film can only be submitted as an International Film. If a film received 50% or more of its funding from sources within the French, the film can only be submitted as a French Film.
7. Subtitles must be in English or French.
8. Filmmakers are allowed to submit more than one film for the Festival provided that each film is submitted separately and meet the guidelines.
9. Upon acceptance, filmmakers must provide high-resolution digital photographs, synopsis, credits, poster or other press kits or promotional materials for each film. Filmmakers must also provide a copy of the film trailer (if applicable) and press screeners upon request.
10. Filmmakers are allowed to re-submit a film that was previously submitted provided significant changes were made and all eligibility requirements are met. When re-submitting the film, include a brief letter detailing the changes made.
11. A student submitting a film must provide a photocopy of a current and valid student ID or a letter from his/her school verifying enrollment.
12. All personal contact information is to remain confidential and not to be shared with any third parties.
13. The festival reserves the right to use images from films selected in the Festival for marketing purposes.
14. All decisions regarding award winners are considered final and incontestable.
15. All films submitted must have been completed after Jan, 2022
